"Flett" is a chair of lathed maple with a braided back and seat. The frame is connected with glued wooden plugs. The chair is designed as a frame that allows you to experiment with braiding techniques and expressions.

The process of "Flett" started as a university assignment at KMD where we would create a sitting object. I wanted the furniture to make the users curious and enable them to take part in the design process.

The chair is at the prototype stage and weaving methods and patterns will be further developed. Both handicraft braiding technique and machine-produced weaving are relevant to study in more detail. Several aspects, including sustainable material use and production methods, will be important. At the same time, I will take with me the starting point which is a piece of furniture that invites to creative participation.
