DESIGN IN MOTION
The theme of Rado Star Prize Taiwan 2016 is DESIGN IN MOTION. By DESIGN IN MOTION we mean beautiful, dynamic objects that move seamlessly between functions. From chairs that morph into stepstools to mirrors that double as ironing boards, beautiful multifunctional objects prove that less is more. By freeing up space and reducing clutter, they have the potential to unlock a lighter – and more sustainable –way of living. Think light. Think multifunctional. Rado challenges you to be pioneering and innovative. Submit your design until August 22nd, 2016 at rado.com/radostarprize-taiwan.
DESIGN HOUSE EXHIBITION IN TAIPEI
All finalists will have the opportunity to display their concepts during the WDC International Design House Exhibition in Taipei from 13th to 30th October 2016 at the Rado booth space. Held over a period of seven days, international exhibition hosts are invited to present the best of their country’s design within the WDC city, creating an opportunity for designers to share ideas, innovation and expertise, as well as promote global design.
WORLD DESIGN CAPITAL
World Design Capital® (WDC) is designated by Icsid every two years to recognize a city’s innovative use of design for economic, social and cultural development and to showcase effective design-led revitalization strategies and projects from which other cities can benefit. Taipei is the fifth city to hold the designation after Cape Town (2014), Helsinki (2012), Seoul (2010) and Turin (2008). Rado has long been known for its engagement with the world of design: as a supporter of design initiatives, a promoter of young talent through its Rado Star Prize competitions, and as a winner of over 30 international design awards.
