The aim of this project is to relocate a craft sector that is in danger of extinction. The ‘Rederas’ is a job dedicated to make and repair the fishing nets in the Galician Coast.
The way to achieve this objective is the design of a chair. Throughout this project we investigate the sector, we interview the people in charge of it, we check their organization, their past, present and future and we look for the manner to help and preserve this trade.
We designed a conversation chair, stackable, for indoor and outdoor, formed by a metal structure and a seat and back braided with recycled fishing nets, sewn by hand by the “rederas” of the association “Rederas Illa da Estrela de Corme”.
With the Corme Chair we intend to give more visibility to the artisan sector of the "rederas", using their knowledge in a sector different from theirs. We managed to give voice to a traditional sector artisans that is in danger of extinction.
