TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THE RADO STAR PRIZE FRANCE 2017
Organised jointly by Montres Rado SA (RADO) and Paris Design Week and under their responsibility, the RADO STAR PRIZE France supports the realisation of an original, innovative project.
The competition offers two prizes:
- an award of 5000€
- a watch by Rado
- a watch by Rado
Deadline for application dossier: midnight 9 June 2017, postmark or email date is sufficient.
A Jury of professionals from the world of design will be responsible for selecting the winning entrant for the RADO STAR PRIZE France.
Selection criteria are: Use of innovative materials, originality and personality. Any design including a design relating to a watch or to any other watchmaker’s instrument will not be accepted or considered.
Conditions of participation
The project submitted shall not have been published or commercialised.
The competition is open to designers who speak or understand French. Candidates have to have completed their 18th year. A participant may only submit one entry.
There is no geographical limitation.
Participation in this competition does not require participants to make any purchase or to make any other form of payment.
Employees of The Swatch Group SA and its subsidiaries and their immediate family, employees of the Paris Design Week and their immediate family, advertising agencies and event organisers and their immediate family are not eligible to take part in this competition.
Application for participation in the competition is made directly on the website www.parisdesignweek.fr or by post to SAFI, Appel à projet now ! le Off

Dossiers have to arrive at the latest on 9 June 2017; for dossiers sent by post the date of the postmark is sufficient evidence.
Images sent when applying may be used by the Paris Design Week and by RADO to communicate and promote the competition.
A participant can be disqualified if he/she does not fulfil one of the specified conditions. Stating a false name or address is also grounds for disqualification.
The dossier should consist of
- A note of intention
- Visuals which are representative of your projects. These should be labelled (name, designer, technical characteristics, presentation text)
- A book of your achievements so far (history, work, biography)
- Dossier of press cuttings (optional)
Jury and awarding of the Prize
The Jury will decide the winner of the Jury Prize.
In the case of numerous entrants, a preselection may be carried out by a pre-jury of professionals, in order to guarantee the quality of the deliberations of the Jury. However, all dossiers are accessible to the Jury. The decisions of the Jury are final and participants undertake not to appeal against them. No information will be given regarding the deliberations of the Jury.
The winner undertakes to make his or her work available for exhibiting at the RADO stand during the Paris Design Week 2017 (from 8 to 16 September 2017), as well as in other possible venues to be communicated in good time. The organizers undertake to return the work to its owner after the exhibitions. An agreement specifying the reciprocal undertakings will be signed between the winner, RADO and Paris Design Week following the awarding of the Prize. Rado may also, if the case arises, propose other cooperation agreements to the winner, which would authorize further use of his or her project.
The participant with the most votes on the site http://radostarprize.rado.com/france on 6 September 2017 at 00:00 will be the winner of the Public Prize.
The personal data collected in the course of this competition will be used solely for the purpose for which they were collected and will not be transferred to third parties.
The winners of the Jury Prize and the Public Prize will be announced on 8 September at the Now ! Le Off evening event of Paris Design Week.
The winner will be personally notified and his or her work will also be published in the press and on the internet sites of Now! le Off and RADO.
Authorisations and rights
By transmitting images of their projects, participants confirm that they are the author of the design and have secured the agreement of any third parties who should be acknowledged for the purposes of participation in this competition and in conformity with the participation conditions. Participants also confirm that the images do not represent any illegal, threatening, offensive, defamatory, libelous or vulgar content, and that they do not violate any trademark rights, copyrights, design rights or any other rights of third parties. RADO and the Paris Design Week and their employees cannot be held liable for losses, claims, compensation, damages or costs resulting from a failure by participants to respect these instructions.
Participants are aware that third parties may have access to images and texts that are online and may use them illegally. RADO and the Paris Design Week have no control over illegal downloading or over any unauthorised use by third parties. Participants waive any right to sue RADO and the Paris Design Week for loss or damage caused by illegal downloading or unauthorized use by third parties.
RADO and the Paris Design Week reserve the right to use the images for the promotion and realisation of this competition and for the website www.radostarprize.fr. Other uses will only be realised with the consent of the author of the project.
No correspondence will be entered into regarding the Jury’s decision. The Jury’s decision is final and binding. There is no legal recourse.
The RADO STAR PRIZE France cannot be held liable for items sent which are lost, incorrectly addressed, arrive late or are incorrect for technical or other reasons. RADO accepts no responsibility for damages, losses or disappointments with regard to participation or inability to participate in the competition, nor does RADO accept any responsibility for damages (to people and objects) caused to third parties by participants in the course of creating the artworks. RADO does not accept any responsibility in case of loss, late appearance online or damage to projects sent.
Participation is null and void if it is prohibited by the local laws to which participants are subject.
The prize is not transferable and cannot be converted into cash. The winners are responsible for paying any taxes or duties to which their prize money may be subject.
RADO reserves the right at any time and without notice to modify or add to the rules of the competition or to close the competition in the event of a computer virus or any other technical problem.
In the case of a serious adverse event, the competition may be suspended at any time without notice and without any entitlement to compensation.
